Professor B. B. Jana, a Retired Professor of the University of Kalyani, West Bengal. Professor Jana is a Fellow of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, New Delhi, and Secretary of the Kalyani Shine India. He was awarded Emeritus Fellowship twice selected by UGC for the first term and then by the AICTE in the next term. He has earned National and International recognition with more than 260 publications of several monographs, books and contributed chapters in UNESCO-Encyclopedia, etc. After his prolonged journey of teaching and research and guide of 32 Ph.D. students, he served as principal investigator of more than 20 major research projects, including a European Union DST collaborative project.  His research interests include ecological sanitation, recycling of wastewater, climate change, zero waste and green technology, etc.  As a secretary of Kalyani Shine India, Professor Jana is deeply involved in the transfer of technologies from lab to land, outreach program, skill development, capacity building, and empowerment of rural people especially weaker section and women, environmental protection in terms of water conservation, soil fertility, biodiversity, and sustainability. Therefore, his domain is not only research but also to propagate the benefit of research at the grass-roots level through outreach activities.
